New TÜBİTAK 2232 International Fellowship for Outstanding Researchers Program Project of Dr. Mehmet Turan at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering
Dr. Mehmet Turan has received new funding through the TÜBİTAK 2232 International Fellowship for Outstanding Researchers Program. The project is entitled “Magnetically Actuated Al-Powered Endoscopic Capsule Robot for Targeted Drug Delivery and Multiple Biopsy Operations”. Please consult with Dr. Turan for Ph.D. scholarship opportunities.
Dr. Mehmet Turan, who received TUBITAK 2232 International Outstanding Researchers Fellowship, joins Institute of Biomedical Engineering. He received his diploma degree from RWTH Aachen University, Germany in 2012 and his PhD degree from ETH Zurich, Switzerland in 2018. Between 2013-2014, he was a research scientist at UCLA (University of California Los Angeles). Between 2018-2019, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems. His research interests include development of AI-powered medical robots to enable patient-specific teleoperation, rehabilitation, drug delivery, biopsy and surgical interventions. Additionally, he aims to develop multimodal fusion algorithms for combining information from multiple imaging modalities, familial and patient histories to achieve more precise diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic determinations. In terms of his 2232 project, Mehmet Turan will hire 5 full-time PhD Students and 2 part-time master students. He is looking for excellent and motivated candidates with strong programming skills and a background of robotics, control, machine learning, localization and mapping.
